Narrandera Fuel Tank & Storage Container Painting Project
Narrandera is a town in the central Riverina region of New South Wales. I had previously worked in Narrandera/Leeton area (once I painted a whole farm and another time, I painted a large mother silo). However, during this particular project, I would be painting something completely different - a fuel tank and a storage container.
As I have mentioned previously during my breakdown of other projects, fuel tanks are among the most commonly requested assets I paint. I have also restored many storage containers in my time. Storage containers are probably one of my favourite items to paint.
The lovely owners of this farm had hired me to transform their storage container from a vibrant red to a more modern silver. Again, they also wanted me to paint their fuel tank so that they would blend effortlessly together.
Painting the Narrandera Storage Container
As always, the job began with a quick pressure-wash. Storage containers are relatively easy to clean, but fuel tanks are a bit more challenging as excess oil/fuel has to be removed. However, this particular tank wasn’t too hard to clean.
Next, I added a penetrol-based protective coating which has been specially formulated to prevent rust from progressing further. Finally, I painted the fuel tank and storage container with an aluminium-based paint which adds an extra layer of rust protection.

I completed this project relatively quickly: this transformation took only two half days. Not only do I love transforming storage containers, but the owners of this farm were very fun to work with which makes the job easier!
